Trust Him
As I'm preparing to teach my last class of the series, The Passionate Pursuit, I'm pondering God's amazing attention to the details of our lives. I have testimonies that could fill books... and I intend to... Living a surrendered life isn't just about trusting Him when things seem to be going in the right direction. That's usually not the case. It's about trusting Him when you don't understand the process and have no idea what He's up to... but you simply believe that He has your best interest in mind... Not just that... but the interest of the others that your testimony will bless and perhaps even be used to change the course of their lives.
In 2018, it was time to choose a cover for my book. The Lord gave me glimpses of what it was supposed to represent. The title being INTIMACY IN THE SECRET PLACE (The Passionate Pursuit of the Presence of God). I knew it had to be about navigating our way into deeper intimacy with the Lord.
Just as the Secret Place in His Word is the path to deeper depths of His presence!
I was looking at ocean pictures that represented the deep and beach bungalows that reflected intimacy. I prayed for God to choose, and I must have looked at thousands of pictures, but I didn't make a connection with any of them. My deadline was approaching so I settled for 5 and sent them to my publisher and told them I would trust God to guide them as they picked one.
They chose one but I still felt no connection. I was driving home from work, discussing the issue with God. I knew He wrote the book, I only took dictation, and I wanted the cover to reflect His heart. I totally let go and told Him that I trusted Him with the outcome even though I had absolutely no peace about it. I just didn't get it!
Then suddenly, I felt the Lord say that I needed to look up what the structure was in the picture! When I did, I was brought to tears! The little messy shack on the beach was a deep-sea diving school! The place where people go to learn how to dive into deep waters!
At that point I was connected and committed! I knew He chose this cover and it represented His heart for this book! Trust Him with every detail! He'll never let you down! The path may not look the way you think it should. It may have bumps and twists and turns but if you keep your faith and continue to trust Him, the results are always amazing!
Psalm 13:5 (TPT) Lord, I have always trusted in your kindness, so answer me. I will yet celebrate with passion and joy when your salvation lifts me up. Psalm 31:14 (NLT) But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
