Trust God!

As I was talking to a friend about trusting God for direction in her life, I was reminded of different ways God has directed us. Several years back we had found some property with an old 2 story farmhouse that needed to be completely rehabbed. Having built our previous home ourselves, we were not intimidated by the amount of work it would take to restore it. It included a few acres, and we liked the location.

The property was vacant and had been on the market for four years. Though we were both excited about it, my husband and I prayed for God's will to be done. He knew more about that old house than we did, and we certainly didn't want to get into a mess, nor did we want to be out of His will.

My boss was a broker, he wrote up a contract for us and I delivered the offer to the selling agent. I called before I left to make sure it was still available, and it was. As I delivered the contract the agent informed me that he had just sold it to a cash buyer! I had just spoken to him 1 hour prior, but within that time frame, the property that was on the market for 4 years sold! My initial reaction was disappointment but then I began to weep as I thought about the amazing love of God that cared enough to close the door we were not to go through. Within a couple of months, some property on a golf course, in a subdivision we had wanted to move into but couldn't afford, became available at an incredible price. We bought it and built our dream home which we lived in for many years.

What I learned through that experience and many others is that as we trust Him with our lives and let go of our will and trade it for His, He is faithful to guide us into greater blessings than we could imagine. Be as thankful for the closed doors as you are for the open ones. Even when the situation seems impossible, continue to trust and worship Him. As long as you’ve given Him control, He’ll work it all out in amazing ways! He’s a good Father and His ways are so much greater than ours!

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts."

Psalm 9:9-10 (NKJV) The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Proverbs 16:3 (AMP) Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Romans 8:28 (KJV) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
