Think a New Thought
Proverbs 16:3 (NKJV) Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.
So much could be said about this verse but I’m tempted to just say nothing. This simple truth is all too powerful in an era where we are constantly bombarded by lies from the enemy via quiet whispers, social media, fake news reports instilling fear, or decades of hurt from our past that has left an old record stuck on repeat.
The battle we face begins between our ears, it's our mind. I believe many Christians are stuck living in the soul realm when they are being called to live by the spirit. Our soul consists of our mind, will and emotions. I often want to scream to people, "what on earth are you thinking?" What they say may sound good in the natural but it's completely contrary to God's Word. Are we contending to be the Bride of Christ or are we just looking for a place to socialize? Many churches have just become country clubs or night clubs, a place for people to gather and feel good in the moment about themselves, their poor choices, and give some money to feel better about their lives full of sin. What's missing? The POWER of God.
We've seen local churches shut down for weeks at a time, not because of some virus, but because Christmas and New Years Day and even Independence Day landed too close to or on a Sunday. Forsaking the gathering together - what about the people without families to visit? What about the poor or the homeless? What about the 1 person that is so done with life after the pandemic drama that cost them their job and is now suicidal that decided to give life one more chance and walk through the church doors for their first time Christmas weekend just to learn their doors to hope and freedom are closed. I do not want to stand before God and tell Him I couldn't have the church open all 52 Sunday's because it was inconvenient for many and not worth the a single lost soul.
If we are COMMITTED to the works of the Lord, our THOUGHTS will be established. Let your life be about the Father's business. Allow His Spirit to guide you and direct your thoughts. If your thought life is in a downward spiral, I urge you to stop and pray. Ask God to forgive you for not thinking clearly and help you think Godly and think thoughts that challenge you and lead you to do His will, not live in a pity party.
Jesus died so you could be free from sin and live a life of abundance. Does your life reflect this? Have you received all He died to give you? Take those negative thoughts captive, choose to think differently. Think in ways that draw you closer to Him. Your relationship with God should be your priority, do not let any devil in hell stop you from your destiny. It is your choice on how to think and how to live. What example and lifestyle do you choose to lead?
Psalm 13:2 (NIV) How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Psalm 19:14 (TPT) So may the words of my mouth, my meditation-thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before your eyes, Yahweh, my only Redeemer, my Protector.
Hebrews 10:23-25 (AMP) Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word]; and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.
