The Simplicity of Drawing Closer to God
I think sometimes we make seeking a deeper relationship with the Lord sound so difficult that many people think it's too much work and basically unattainable.
As I come home from a busy and sometimes stressful day, I spend a little time enjoying my husband's company and though there's no other person I'd rather be with, I can't wait to curl up with the Lover of my soul.
You may wonder how to pray eloquent prayers to touch His heart, but that's not what He's looking for. I start out by spending some time searching scriptures and reading His Word. It cleanses my mind of all its distractions. Then as I lay on my bed looking intently at Him (giving Him my full attention) I ask Him to search my heart. I repent of anything in my life that needs to be eliminated. I don't want to hold on to anything, including my time, so I surrender more of myself to Him, as I ask for His help in doing it.
I spend some time worshipping and thanking Him for all that He's done for me. Then I begin to weep as I think of His goodness, mercy, and love. I share with Him the things that are on my heart, then I ask if I can crawl up under His wing and feel the warmth and protection of His embrace. I just lay there... tarrying in His presence, listening for His sweet voice. As always, I'm amazed as I feel Him close to me and I know I'm safe in His arms. At this point no words need to be spoken, as His love refuels me and gives me the strength to go on. Nothing fancy just spending time hanging out with my Bride Groom and closest friend.
It's a relationship and like any other, we just need to spend some time together to grow closer. As you get to know Him better and more intimately, you'll fall deeper and deeper in love, and a relationship you once thought was work will become your greatest pleasure. Just start by prioritizing time to hang out with Jesus!

James 4:8 (ESV) Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded
John 15:15 (NLT) I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.
Matthew 3:8 (NLT) Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.
