The Road to Your Destiny

Today I’m studying about Joseph. His story resonates within my soul. As a child, he receives an incredible dream from the Lord that signifies His calling to a role of leadership. With a calling like this, you would assume it would all be smooth sailing from here on out, right? God’s given you a promise and you know without a shadow of a doubt that He has a great plan for your life, shouldn’t the road be paved with blessings and favor? After all, the hand of the Lord has marked you and is upon you!

With any call of God there is a learning, pruning and growth process that must first take place. He wants to do incredible things through His children, but He refuses to share the glory with anyone. As you read about Joseph, you see there may have been a pride issue involved as he shared his dream with his brothers. He had yet to develop humility. A dream that the Lord shared with him in private, to ponder in his heart, was suddenly used for bragging rights and it offended his brothers.

As the pruning process unfolds, it’s interesting, in the midst of his captivity, God’s favor was still upon him. He’s sold into slavery, nothing like starting at the bottom…but what greater way to give God all of the glory when the blessing takes place! He’s given a great measure of authority in Potiphar’s house, but as you read Genesis 39:9, he is still speaking of his greatness. He’s growing, he remained faithful as he was tested with Potiphar’s wife, but there was still more flesh to be shed.

Due to a lie that was declared against him, He’s sent to prison, yet still remains faithful and once again quickly gains favor and a leadership position. I won’t go through the entire story, but as you know, when the time was right and He had completely surrendered his own will and shed his pride, God placed him in the position he was born to serve in! With all of the trials, tests, blessings and disappointments…God transposed him into his destiny in an instant! Joseph went from bragging on his own behalf and taking the glory for himself to this:

Genesis 41:15 (NLT) Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream last night, and no one here can tell me what it means. But I have heard that when you hear about a dream you can interpret it.” “IT IS BEYOND MY POWER TO DO THIS,” Joseph replied. “But GOD can tell you what it means and set you at ease.”

He gave God ALL of the glory! The response? Genesis 41:39-41 (NKJV) Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “In as much as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.

What are going through today? Do you feel forgotten and your God given dreams are unattainable? Do you feel like this detour has taken you way off course? Don’t give up! The box that’s currently containing you may just be the catalyst God is using to launch your destiny! Keep learning, seeking and worshiping Jesus right where you are, as He prepares you for where He wants you to be!

Proverbs 13:12 (TPT) “When hope’s dream seems to drag on and on the delay can be depressing, but when at last your dream comes true, life’s sweetness will satisfy your soul.” Romans 8:28 (TPT) So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together for good, for we are His lovers who have been called to fulfill His designed purpose.
