The Beauty of the Reverential Fear of the Lord

How do you live your life? This isn't a trick question. I just want you to take a few minutes to evaluate your relationship with Christ today. Do you live to satisfy your desires, then ask God to bless your plans? Do you treat Jesus like a genie in a bottle that you only call up when you have a need?

Is He the passion and driving force of your life? Is your main desire to please Him, yourself or other people? Do you live with reverential fear of displeasing Him and stepping out of His will? Is His pleasure your greatest desire!? Do you honor and respect God as the Creator of the Universe and the One who desired, designed and created YOU?

If and when you do spend intimate time with Him... do you accept interruptions, glance at your phone for messages and accept calls that disrupt your holy union with your King.... would you treat someone you greatly esteemed in this manner??? Do you understand what an honor it is to be invited into His throne room? Do you rush in with all of your baggage or are you quick to repent of your sins and come before Him clean... purified by His shed blood? Do you spend time in His presence worshiping and honoring Him or do you just quickly share your needs then go on about your day?

When He asks you to do something and it's on your heart and you know He's leading you to do it... are you quick to respond with a fervent YES!? Or do you base your decision on how you feel or how it makes you feel, regardless of the impact it could make in the lives of others and the Kingdom of God? Is your decision based on your abilities and comfort zone or are you willing to step out of the box and do whatever He wants you to do...even if it's extremely uncomfortable or possibly even hurts!?

I have one fear in my life, oh that doesn't mean I'm never attacked with other fears, that's a battle we must overcome regularly as the enemy tries to intimidate us in many areas, but that's just temporary diversions, as long as we remain focused on Christ and trust Him completely with every outcome... but there's one fear I don't ever want to battle or overcome and that is the fear of the Lord! In Isaiah 11:2 it speaks of the Spirit of the fear of the Lord. It's an incredible gift! It's with those who fear Him that He shares the secrets of His heart! I want to remain close enough that He would share such intimate secrets with me!

His fear doesn't come to bring us terror but it draws us closer... it pulls us deep into His presence... it's a reverential fear of stepping out of His will or displeasing Him in any way! When you've experienced the warmth of His embrace and the nearness of His presence... nothing in this life is worth separating you from Him! You become quick to repent and you balance every thought and motive on the scales of His love and mercy!

Yes! The fear of the Lord is my greatest pleasure! It keeps me near His heart as His will has become my greatest desire and His pleasure is my passion! Remain in awe and beautifully fearful!! He deserves our highest praise and honor!! The King of kings and the Lord of lords is worthy of our Reverential Fear!

Isaiah 11:2-3 (KJV) And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears.

Philippians 2:12 (NKJV) Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Psalm 25:14 (NKJV) The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.

Hebrews 1:9 (NLT) You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.
