Tarry
Psalm 27:14 (NKJV) Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
Mark 14:34 (KJV) And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
Tarry: to linger in expectation : wait. : to abide or stay in or at a place.
In our rushed society we've lost the art of patience. If things don't happen quickly, we move on to something else. Waiting on God and tarrying in His presence has become almost unheard of. I mean, we barely have time to read our Bibles and pray much less take the time to wait on Him. Right?
It's funny how God works. I've been in His presence for several hours tonight. I hate to admit it, but I was starting to get a little frustrated. I worked all day, I'm tired and I have to work in the morning and I want to spend some time with my husband. My usual routine is, I come home, do a few chores and head for my bedroom for my time with Jesus. I love my time with the Lord and I look forward to it. I usually spend a couple of hours with Him in the evening, sometimes longer and towards the end of our time together, He gives me a message to share with you.
Tonight, almost 4 hours went by and all I heard was crickets... literally! I continued praying, seeking and waiting...then finally, after He had proven His point, He gave me 1 word...tarry...
We must learn to live our lives on His time table. We are not our own. Once we truly give up the reins to our lives and trust Him with every detail, we can experience true freedom. He wants to lead and guide us. He desires to share His heart and desires with us, but if we are too busy to hang around and hear what He has to say, we'll miss out on so much!
The Lord is waiting for a relationship with you. Relationships aren't one sided. Unfortunately, often God is given a list of requests but He's not worshiped and honored for what He's done and who He is and there's no thought to drawing closer and hearing His heart.
He's worth your time, more than anything else in this life! Turn off the television, ignore social media for a little while and seek Him! Then tarry in His presence and allow Him to touch your heart and share His love with you! There's really no greater blessing!
Numbers 22:19 (KJV) Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the Lord will say unto me more.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
