Stop Deceiving Yourself

A good soldier knows the plans and skills of their enemy. It would be foolish for any military group to invade their enemy's camp or go to war without any knowledge of who they are up against. If you are pursuing the Lord, know that you will face your enemy. The scriptures warn us to remain sober-minded so we may resist the enemy.

1 Peter 5:8-10 (KJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

The definition of the Greek word for resist is to set one's self against, to withstand or to oppose. Do not fall for the trap of the enemy, continue to stand against his lies and speak the Word of God over your life and to rebuttal anything he says. Jesus was our example when he was tempted for 40 days in the wilderness. Each time the enemy spoke to Jesus, He responded with a scripture from the Old Testament, each verse came from the book of Deuteronomy. At the end of it, the devil left Him. This is confirmed again in James chapter 4:

Verse 7 (NKJV) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Jesus submitted to the authority of His Father, He resisted the devil and the devil left.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (NKJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Jesus died for our freedom, to live in bondage while having freedom available is ludicrous. We must receive that freedom and live in obedience. Where is your armor oh mighty child of God? What good is it to have weapons and armor if you leave them at home during war?

Do you know the scriptures? Are they a part of your daily routine; to read and meditate on them throughout your day? Do you care more about the updated status of social media celebrities more than understanding and searching for the Lord? How much time do you think you have left on this side of Heaven? Are you prepared for a crisis?

James 1:22-25 (NKJV) But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Are you following that above verse? If you only HEAR the Word and do nothing you are deceived!!! They enemy loves when people come to church to hear yet go home and do nothing for Jesus. For these are the deceived. You must be proactive, Christianity isn't listening to sermons on YouTube, it's dying to yourself DAILY! You must ACT upon the Word you hear. Become a doer of the Word and you will be blessed in what you do! Selah.
