Do Unto Others

Hmmm...do unto others as you would have them do unto you...Unfortunately, that can be a scary thought for some.

Think about it, do you judge people according to their appearance, social status, or job title? Do you hold their past failures against them? How about gossip? That's a tough one for some, it's easy to get sucked into it when others are talking about someone, especially if you have the latest scoop. Some even judge others according to their current trial, placing blame in the midst of their pain and sorrow…That’s not love and support!

Let's be honest, do you treat others the way you would want to be treated? If someone you know has fallen into sin or they are victims of slander, do you confront them and try to help or do you scandalize them? We must treat others the way we would want to be treated, with love and respect. Our hearts must be moved with compassion, with a sincere desire to minister to them and help them even in their lowest moments.

The ways we treat people are all seeds that are sown into our own lives. It's up to us if we sow weeds of bitterness or a beautiful garden of love and mercy. So, though it may require some self-control and crucifying of the flesh, I know what kind of seeds I want to sow. Let's begin to prepare to reap a harvest of favor, mercy and love as we see and treat others with selfless abandon. Showing love and mercy as Jesus has done for us.

Luke 6:37-38 (KJV) Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.

Matthew 7:12 (NKJV) Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Galatians 6:7-10 (KJV) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

2 Corinthians 12:20 (KJV) For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
