Deeply Rooted

Ephesians 3:17-19 (TLB) And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled up with God himself.

How deep are your roots in Christ? Can they be easily plucked up out of the ground as the wind blows? What if a storm comes - will you remain rooted in the ground? How rich is the soil you are rooted in? These are questions we should all ask ourselves on a regular basis to keep our hearts in check. Evaluate where you are and how much you have grown or walked away. Having goals and measuring your progress is important if you desire spiritual growth. Having someone you are accountable to and can talk to about strengths and struggles is necessary - there are people in our lives for a reason. We need to help one another and share with one another. As long as we are on this side of Heaven, there should be something we are currently working on. It could be our love walk - showing kindness to others, maybe it's our attitude toward some people or our thought life that is a constant battle.

Regardless of where you are today, ask God to give you strength to be better tomorrow. We all have a long way to go but man, look how far we have come! Could you imagine if you would have never accepted Jesus as of today? What would your world look like now? Have you thanked Him for all the blessings in your life? Every day I thank God for my health and the health of my family - the basic needs of life can be taken for granted so easily. If you wake up tomorrow with only the things you have thanked Him for today, what would remain? God's love for you is deep, deep, deep… we cannot fully grasp how much He loves us but we should aim to love Him back more each day.

May we all be filled with the love of God so great that we become un-offendable and bulletproof against the one that wages war against our souls. Love God because He first loved us.

1 John 4:19 (NIV) We love because he first loved us.
