Be Alert!
Colossians 3:1-2 (MSG) So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.
Don't be absorbed with the things right in front of you. This can be such a challenge! When we have the world at our fingertips, we can easily become so invested in the updates, news and status of what everyone else is doing that we aren't focused on what we should be doing. Staying focused on anything today can be tough, staying focused on Christ can be even harder because the enemy has plenty of ways to grab our attention in this 21st century. This is why we need to make a habit of reaching out to Him each morning before the world grabs the attention of our minds.
Speak life over your family each day as you wake up. Thank God for all of the things and people you have in your life. Praise Him for what He has already done and set the tone for your day by keeping Him first and center of everything. The real action is not what we can see with our natural eyes, it's what is happening in the spiritual realm. What we can pray for and cause to break in the spirit will have an effect on the things in the natural. We are more than just a physical body. We have a spirit that is longing for more of our Creator and only drawing closer to Him will fulfill these desires within us. Even though prayer can feel mundane and even boring at times, don't let that deter you from staying focused on what is really important and keeping your eyes fixed on Him! Seek the blessor rather than the blessings.
James 4:8 (AMPC) Come close to God and He will come close to you.
