Conquer Your Giants
Do you have giants in your life? What are they? Fear? Insecurity? Doubt? Worry? All of these can become GIANTS to you. The enemy has been around much longer than us and he knows how to destroy someone's destiny. He knows what our weaknesses are and what makes us tick. It usually begins with something small and when it's not dealt with it continues to grow until it becomes the very thing that causes you to stop moving forward into what God has called you to do.
How do we defeat these GIANTS? By doing just what Jesus did… we start by Going to the Word. In Matthew 4 Jesus was tempted by the devil. Every time the enemy tries to tell you something, know that it is always a lie. The enemy knows the scriptures but he will twist it and make you think he is right. Satan's goal is to completely destroy you. It normally begins with something as simple as "you aren't doing a good job." This can be a seed into your mind if you do not cast down the negative thoughts right away. Then you begin to get insecure about the task you were given. You can become paranoid and think people are talking bad about you all from a little whisper from the enemy. Each time the devil tempted Jesus, Jesus responded with a scripture from Deuteronomy - He went to the Word!
The next step is to Ingest His Promises! The Word is FILLED with promises for us, we need to be good students of the Word and know what these promises are so we may stand on them and confront the enemy with God’s truth - our sword!
Aim for Victory! Think back to the story of David and Goliath. David knew He could defeat the giant Philistine because God was on his side and was always faithful. Once he killed Goliath, he then cut the head off of his enemy. It was the grand finale to show how great our God is and how much He can do through us when we are obedient.
Narrow Your Focus. We cannot think like the world thinks and expect to live a life of victory and fruitfulness. We must keep our focus on Jesus and on Him alone. Once we start trying to figure things out on our own, we lose our ground on His promises for our lives. We must renew our mind daily!
Take Authority Over the Enemy! God gave us dominion over the earth. We have been instructed to resist the devil and he will flee. We have absolute authority over the enemy. How great is our God?! He did not create us to put us on the earth and walk around defeated and miserable. He has given us the tools to be victorious. Are you utilizing all He has given you!?
The final step in conquering your giants is to Show the World God’s Power! What good is it to be victorious and win battles if it’s just kept to yourself? If you have ever had a great accomplishment in life - graduating, getting married, expecting a child, winning a contest, getting a clean bill of health after a bad diagnosis - you want to share it with the world! Even small things like completing your to-do list. That feels so great, you share with others or post it on social media. “I've got all of my chores done, dinner made, kids bathed, and even had time to read a book last night.” We celebrate these things in life. So when you experience God working on your behalf, share it with the world! Tell them what God has done for you! Your testimony can be the very thing that brings a lost soul to Christ. We have overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony!
