Ever-Increasing Faith
Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb 11:1). I remember as a new Christian, everything I heard about God had me in awe. The testimonies of people being delivered from drugs, alcohol, addictions of any kind completely floored me. Hearing about financial breakthroughs from people who were consistently giving and paying their tithes even when it did not make sense on paper was astounding. I've always been a student at heart, I love learning, I find it fascinating that the brain doesn't max out on knowledge. We can continue to grow and learn more. When God steps in and grabs ahold of someone who is hungry for Him and desperate for change, all of these 5-steps to victory, 10 keys to success and 20 ways to be happy become irrelevant. Not that those are bad things, some like seeing a list of processes and they do help. But to be transformed - it just takes one touch from God to change you for the rest of your life. If your faith needs increased, you must continue to hear the Word of God. This can be done by listening to sermons at church, online, on TV; listening to the audio bible at home, in the car or at work; reading the Word for yourself and having fresh revelation from God for yourself!
You have to keep the Word in your heart. Continue to hear what God has done for others, testimonies were always a great way for me to increase my faith. One common thing that I've heard from testimonies, is that the people were in a place of desperation. They were sick or losing their home or about to go to jail. Let's learn from other's trials so we don't have to wait until God is our last resort. He needs to be the first one we go to for help. He is a good father and He loves to bless His children. Start with something small that you are believing God for and allow your faith to grow. Don't just believe to blessings for yourself, pray for others to be blessed and pray for salvations of the hardest hearts. Make people your priority, not things. This will become a witness to those around you and increase the Kingdom of Heaven!
1 Thessalonians 2:13 (AMP) And we also thank God continually for this, that when you received the word of God [concerning salvation] which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of [mere] men, but as it truly is, the word of God, which is effectually at work in you who believe [exercising its inherent, supernatural power in those of faith].
Acts 16:5 (AMP) So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they continually increased in number day after day.
