Seed for the Sower
2 Corinthians 9:10 (AMP) Now He who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed for sowing [that is, your resources] and increase the harvest of your righteousness [which shows itself in active goodness, kindness, and love].
When we receive gifts for birthdays or holidays, it's a wonderful feeling knowing that someone was thinking about us and cared enough to buy something for us. In those moments we feel loved and special as we take in the blessings. Lately my eyes have been opened more to the needs of those around me. Seeing there is a need that I can meet actually blesses me more than receiving a special gift of my own because I now have an opportunity to share the love of God in a tangible way. Using our resources to help others is always a worthy investment. Jesus helped people in need all the time and our lives should look the same way.
When you know you can help out and choose not to, you are blocking more blessings coming to you. When you know you can do something and you follow through, you are now opening a door to receive more so you may give more. There are many people I know that are wealthy, in many ways, and those are the ones that I find out are giving the most. It's a principle to follow, you reap what you sow. Not just in finances, but also in attitudes, time, gifts, talents, possessions and more. Understand we do not live for these things but they are resources for us to utilize for Kingdom purposes. A friend of ours shared that years ago he finally got his car paid off and once he no longer owed on it, the Lord told him to give it away. He thought well I just paid it off, Lord! God said, exactly, now you can bless someone else with it. Over the years he has given away at least 8 vehicles and now is driving a vehicle that he didn't even pay for. Why? Because he sowed vehicles and now he is reaping them! Josh and I have been in positions where we needed a vehicle and God provided and we've also been in positions where we had an abundance and the Lord told us to bless someone else with our vehicle. We don't worship or idolize possessions but we do use them to be a blessing and to bring glory to our Father!
God is our provider and He will provide the seed, the question is, what will you do with it? If you keep it all and eat all your seed, you have no more to plant and are now left desolate. If you eat some, give some, plant some and save some, you are on a path to more than enough. As we pour out blessings to others and plant seeds, we will in due season reap a harvest. What are you sowing? Will you be a blessing? Will you be obedient? Remember, if you can't give something away, you don't it, it owns you! Selah.
6 Corinthians 9:6-7 (AMP) Now [remember] this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to others] will also reap generously [and be blessed]. Let each one give [thoughtfully and with purpose] just as he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver [and delights in the one whose heart is in his gift].
