The Danger Zone

As I come home from work tonight... there are many things on my to do list. Besides the regular laundry and housework, there's my priority list. I am preparing a message for Wednesday night and I have a devotion to write. I know I need to study so that I can fulfill what God has called me to do. In the midst of all of these noble tasks, there's a danger zone. You see, the reality is, I have nothing to offer in my devotions or my messages if my main priority isn't getting filled with the Word, seeking Jesus and spending time basking in His presence.

It's easy to get so busy doing things for God that our intimate time with Him begins to wane. We must realize that the basis to any productivity in our lives is Jesus! If our focus shifts from Him and onto the tasks at hand, there are 2 things that can happen. We will either crash and completely burn out or begin to rely on our own ability, no longer depending on His anointing to produce fruit through us. The work we do for His Kingdom then becomes empty and powerless. If we have the knowledge of His Word without a relationship with Him, we become religious and if we have relationship without a Biblical foundation we can become... well...flaky. Our time with Jesus must be a balance of studying His Word and allowing it to come to life in our time in The Secret Place. You have nothing to offer without this perfect balance of knowledge and relationship, but with it... you're unstoppable!

Total surrender to God can only happen when we are walking close enough to Him to recognize His voice and follow His lead. In the midst of the chaos of our day to day lives... He has a plan. It's so easy to get caught up with our own schedules that we forget that there's so much more to our existence. Stay focused on Jesus, holding tight, clinging to His arm and doing whatever He leads you to do. The truth is, there's nothing that He calls you to do that you can't accomplish when you're filled with the Word and anointed by His Spirit.

Stay out of the danger zone by making your time seeking Him a priority! Everything else will flow from this perfect union!

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Luke 10:38-42 As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what He taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
