Torn
James 1:5-8 (NLT) If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
Are you stable in all you do? Or are you finding yourself indecisive and double minded regarding the things of God? The enemy knows you are a great threat to him and would love nothing more than for you for become lazy in the faith. We cannot serve two masters, and the time to make the decision once and for all is now. Jesus needs a people that are willing to sacrifice and do what it takes to make His name known in all the earth. The weak-willed Christians will not be able to withstand the attacks that will come - this is not a doom and gloom message, this is a warning to become prepared for the future. We must not be controlled by our feelings which are never trustworthy and ever-changing, rather be led by the Spirit of the Living God so you know you are walking in His perfect will.
James 1:19-25 (NLT) Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
As you begin to heed to the Word of God and work out your salvation, remember you must also DO. Just learning what to do and how to live is useless if you don't put it to work and obey. Living with the attitude of putting others before you is a great joy that multitudes of Christians still don't have a revelation of. Living for self is full of pride and self-righteousness and helps no one! Help someone in need by teaching them the ways of Jesus, buy a gift for someone for no reason other than to show God's love. For by kindness and practical gifts, we open doors of opportunity for the gospel to be preached.
James 2:18 (NLT) Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”
