Are You Led by The Spirit?
Romans 8:5-6 (NLT) Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
How often would you say you are being controlled by your circumstances and feelings? I understand that circumstances can be out of your hands but are you allowing them to hinder you from moving forward in life? Feelings can be strong but they are also temporary, I know because I am a woman and I can go from happy to sad to laughing to frustrated all in about 5 minutes. If in the moment I'm frustrated I choose to react, I will probably do or say something I will regret. If I choose to react during my happy moment then I may do something that is good but not necessarily what is spirit-led by God. Therefore, even in doing good I can be doing something in my own strength and my own will rather than following God's perfect plan for my life.
For example, if you are running your church daycare program but you are actually called to lead worship, you are still doing something great, but if it is not what God is calling you to do then you will continue to feel out of sync with your spirit and something will always be missing. If you are one to always say yes to those who ask you to do something, you may run into feelings of anxiety because of a fear to say no then getting overwhelmed by a desire to please people rather than pleasing God. Even in doing good we can be missing out on what we were created to do. God is not going to scold you for helping children instead of singing in the choir but He will always be pulling you in the direction He designed you to follow. So today, take a few moments to pray and ask God what it is that He wants you to do. Following His will is when we will find a true joy that cannot be tamed and there will always be a grace upon you to fulfill the purpose.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
1 Peter 4:10 (TPT) Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace.
